Government forces detonate IED in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces detonated on Thursday an IED planted by unknown individuals at the entrance of the neighborhood of al-Sahafa in Daraa al-Mahatta, south Syria.
The explosion caused panic among the residents.
A local source told North Press that the engineering units of the government forces detonated an IED, after they failed to dismantle it.
The source pointed out the IED was planted on the road to target the government force patrol as passing by it.
A violent explosion was heard all over the neighborhood and Daraa at a time when students head to schools and employees head to work.
Al-Sahafa neighborhood is one of the neighborhoods where government forces intensively deploy.
In the past ten years, Syrian opposition has not been able to control the neighborhood, according to the source.
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with one or two daily assassinations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, not to mention the spread of thefts.
