ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – Joint Iraqi forces launched on Tuesday a security operation to pursue Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells on two axes in the north and south of the city of Mosul, western Iraq.
The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) described the operation as “widespread”. It was launched on two axes to track down “ISIS remnants”, in the “Badush village and Jazira al-Hadr in Mosul, according to a statement by the PMF.
The first axis of the operation was focused on the Badush, north of Mosul, and the second included Jazira al-Hadr, south of Mosul.

The process came in the vicinity of Mosul, which was the alleged capital of ISIS in Iraq even before its restoration in 2016.
The seventh phase of Operation Solid Will is taking place in the central and eastern regions of Iraq, specifically the separation between the governorates of Saladin and Diyala.
Despite the defeat of ISIS geographically, different areas in the center of Iraq, especially the disputed line between Erbil and Baghdad are witnessed from time to another operations of ISIS targeting security posts and civilians in remote villages.
