Spain tries to repatriate its nationals from Hawl Camp – Iraq
ERBIL, KRI, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi National Security Adviser announced on Sunday that Spain tries to repatriate its nationals from Hawl Camp, in northeastern Syria, to dismantle it.
This came in a statement released by the Iraqi National Security Adviser that addressed the meeting that was held between the Spanish Ambassador to Iraq, Pedro Martinez-Avial, and the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qasim al-Araji.
The meeting discussed the issues of fighting Islamic State Organization (ISIS) and Hawl Camp.
Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians and 8.254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.
The camp witnesses murders with different methods, most notably firearms. The management of the camp fears that the latest Turkish threats of invading areas in northern Syria would pave the way for ISIS to reorganize its ranks; North Press cited a statement by the management as saying.
The statement said, citing the Spanish ambassador as saying, his country tries to repatriate its nationals from Hawl Camp in order to end the camp’s file and dismantle it.
Iraq seeks to end the camp’s file and return “criminals” to their countries to be prosecuted there, the statement added, citing Al-Araji as saying.
On September 10, Iraq’s Ministry of Displacement and Migration announced that 766 Iraqi families were repatriated from Hawl Camp after subjecting them to security measures.
Repatriating the nationals to their countries is the solution to end the camp’s file, al-Araji stressed.
Keeping international community together against terrorism is one of weaknesses of the ISIS, he added.
