Contaminated drinking water causes Cholera – AANES
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Sunday that Cholera infections in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor are caused by contaminated drinking water.
The Euphrates water level has witnessed a record decline described by residents as “catastrophic” as a result of Turkey’s seizure of the river’s water.
This caused it to turn into quagmires the matter led to water contamination.
“Cholera infection cases recorded in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor are caused by water contamination,” said Jwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board.
“Health Board continues its researches regarding this matter,” he added in a statement to AANES official website.
Mustafa pointed out that Cholera infected patients are being treated in al-Kasra hospital, 35 km west of Deir ez-Zor, and that some cases are cured and were discharged out of the hospital.

The cases concentrated in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor and areas near the eastern countryside of Raqqa, the source added.
