Shelling between government, opposition in Syria’s Aleppo, Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – De-escalation zone in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib in northwest Syria witnessed on Saturday mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA).
According to what an opposition source told North Press, the government forces, using artillery shells and rockets, targeted opposition positions in the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Kansafra, Benin, al-Nayrab Ablin, Balyon and Majdaliya in the Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib.
The source added that the government forces also shelled the villages and towns of Maklabis, Kafr Amma, Kafr Nouran and Sheikh Suleiman in the western countryside of Aleppo.
Meanwhile, North Press was informed that al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted with heavy artillery the government forces’ positions in the towns of Kafr Nabl, south of Idlib.
Al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room includes the National Front for Liberation, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Jaysh al-Izza. The military bloc is active in Idlib and Hama countryside.
The areas in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria, especially in south of Idlib and west of Aleppo, continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the SNA factions and the government forces, despite being part of the ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in March 2020, which stipulates a halt of all military actions in Idlib.
