Body of ISIS suspect found in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, residents found the body of an individual suspected of belonging to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) on the outskirts of the town of Muzayrib in the western countryside of Daraa, a governorate south Syria.
Local sources told North Press the residents found the body of Fadi Majed Sa’ed dumped near al-Shammari mill north of Muzayrib.
The sources added, “The body bore bullet holes, and it was transferred to the National Hospital in the town of Tafas.”
Sa’ed, who hails from Muzayrib, was a former militant in the Syrian opposition before joining settlement agreements in the summer of 2018.
A month ago, social media users circulated video footage in which ISIS militant Muhammad Rabi’ Sayel Awdat was shown, confessing his affiliation to the ISIS.
In the video, Awdat noted that Sa’ed was also an ISIS militant.
Local sources told North Press that Awdat known as “Hamoda Tasil” was killed after being arrested on August 8 at a checkpoint of the government forces between two towns of Dael and Tafas in the western countryside of Daraa.
On August 9, ISIS leader Muhammad Abdullah al-Ba’eh aka Abu Salem al-Iraqi was killed after blowing himself up during clashes with Syrian government forces which besieged him in one of the houses in Daraa western countryside.
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with one or two daily assassinations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, not to mention the spread of thefts.
In 2021, Daraa Governorate went through an 80-day-seige. After that, a number of Daraa’s notables and government forces, with mediation of Russian officers, reached a ceasefire agreement on September 5, 2021, including handing over weapons and deploying governmental security posts in the towns of the governorate.
