Turkey shells Russian base outskirts, villages in Syria’s Hasakah

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) –Turkish forces and their affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled on Wednesday villages in the countryside of the town of Tel Tamr and the vicinity of a Russian base, north of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.

A source in the Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told North Press the Turkish forces targeted the villages of Aboush, Tel Shnan, Dardara, Tel Juma, Tel Tawila, and al-Mjebra with a barrage of artillery shells.

The shelling also targeted the vicinity of a Russian Base and a power station in the countryside of Tel Tamr.

As a result, material damages were caused, and power was cut to Tel Tamr and its countryside for the 28th time.

Russian troops stationed in al-Mabaqer station north of the town did not show any reaction to this shelling.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25.000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo governorate in northwest.

The town has been under constant attack by Turkish forces and their SNA factions for more than two years.

Parts of the northern and western countryside of the town and the entire southern countryside are protected by the Syriac Military Council and the Assyrian Khabour Guards Forces, while the Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions control the northern countryside up to the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) on the northern border of Syria.
