Joint SDF-Coalition military exercises close to Turkish border in Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS conducted joint military exercises in far northeast Syria close to the border with Turkey.
Live ammunition and heavy weaponry were used in the military exercises which took place in the village of Teqil Beqil of Derik (al-Malikiyah) close to the border triangle joining Turkey, Syria and Iraq.
The military exercises being the very first of its kind in the Jazira region aim at consolidating joint cooperation between the two parties most notably concerning the fight against ISIS, according to a statement released after the exercises were concluded.
The statement indicated that such military exercises will not be “the last of its kind.”
