Turkish forces shell two villages north of Syria’s Hasakah

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) Using heavy artillery, the Turkish forces shelled on Thursday evening two villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.

A source of Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said that the Turkish forces shelled, with a barrage of artillery shells, the villages of Tel Tawil and al-Aboush in west and north of Tel Tamr respectively.

The bombardment caused material damage to the residents’ properties, the source said, adding that the area is witnessing a state of calm.

On August 27, the Turkish forces targeted with several artillery shells the inhabited village of Tel al-Laban, west of Tel Tamr, causing material damage.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25.000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo governorate in northwest.

The town has been under constant attack by Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), for more than two years.
