Israel targets plane carrying Iranian leader in Aleppo’s Airport

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – A source of Iran’s Local Defense Forces in Aleppo Governorate said on Thursday that the Iranian plane that was targeted on Friday by Israel was carrying a prominent leader of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The airstrike targeted an Iranian plane that was about to land in Aleppo International Airport, was coming from Tehran and carrying “unique weapons”, according to the source.

However, the plane changed its course after the repeated missile attacks and headed towards Damascus International Airport that was also targeted by Israel hours later.

On Wednesday, several missiles, fired by Israel, targeted Aleppo International Airport, landing on military posts affiliated with Iranian-backed militias, causing material damage.

A local source told North Press that an outpost of the Iranian Local Defense Forces was caught on fire as a result of the missile attack.

About two hours later, Israeli missile strikes targeted Rif Dimashq, southern Syria.

Exclusive sources told North Press that the civilian runway in Aleppo Airport was severely damaged.

In addition, important facilities at the military airport were damaged and it has almost completely become out of service.

Aleppo International Airport contains a runway of civilian planes, a military airport, operations headquarters and weapons depots affiliated to Iran.
