Turkey targets civilians, commits massacres – Ilham Ahmad

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)Ilham Ahmad, president of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), said on Sunday in a tweet that Turkey targets civilians and commits massacres.

The SDC is the political wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). It was founded in 2015 and includes all the communities of north and east Syria.

Ahmad also said that a Turkish drone struck an education center in Hasakah, killing four girls as a result.

On Thursday, a Turkish drone targeted a UN-affiliated education center on the road connecting between the city of Hasakah and the town of Tel Tamr, northeast Syria.

“I warn public opinion; Turkish escalation increases the chances of reviving ISIS terrorism in Syria and the region,” Ahmad added.

“Turkey escalated its military operations against the AANES-held areas after the recent talks Turkey’s President held with regional and global parties,” said the AANES in a statement released on Friday.

Maj. Gen. John Brennan, the commander of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR), said in a statement on August 18, “An armed unmanned aerial system struck a group of teenaged girls playing volleyball who were active in a United Nations educational outreach program in Hasakah.”

The major general condemned the attack and called for an “immediate de-escalation from all parties and an end to activities that put at risk the significant battlefield gains the coalition has made against ISIS.”
