Turkish-backed faction arrests individual in Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Turkish-backed Levant Front faction arrested an individual in a village affiliated with Sharan district in the countryside of Afrin north of Aleppo.
A source told North Press that the Levant Front faction, during a storming supported by civil police, arrested Muhammad Izzat Khalil, a resident of the village of Ma’reske in Sharan district.
Khalil, who resides in the center of Afrin, was in a visit to one of his relatives when he was arrested on charges of dealing with the Autonomous Administration previously, according to the source.
So far, place of arrest and his fate have not been revealed, the source added.
Afrin and its surrounding countryside have been under the control of Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), since 2018, following Turkish military operation Olive Branch.
Since then these areas have been witnessing a state of security chaos including arrests, kidnappings, and killings against residents of the region with the factions’ inability to maintain security there.
