Alert following anti-Turkish graffiti in Syria’s Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The city of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo witnessed on Tuesday a military alert after graffiti denouncing recent Turkish statements on the walls of local institutions and schools in the city.  

An exclusive source told North Press that the Military Police faction, affiliated with the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) conducted patrols inside the city’s neighborhoods and outskirts to identify the writers of the graffiti against the statements of the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On August 12, a number of demonstrations took place in opposition-held areas in the countryside of Aleppo, condemning the statements made by Turkey Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu, in which he called for reconciliation between the Syrian government and opposition.

In the past days, the city of Azaz witnessed an unknown activity through writings on the walls denouncing Turkey.

The city of Azaz in Aleppo northern countryside has been under the control of the Turkish-backed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), since July 2012.
