SDF member lost life in Turkish drone strike in Syria’s Qamishli

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced Sunday that a member of the military discipline of their forces lost his life after a car was being targeted in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria.

On Saturday, a Turkish drone hit al-Sinaa neighborhood (industrial zone) in Qamishli which killed four people and wounded two others.

The blast completely destroyed two cars and damaged shops in the vicinity, according to the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) statement.

The SDF Media Center described the attack as a “terrorist assault” because it caused three people, including two children, to lose their lives.

The Asayish pointed out in a statement that not all victims have been identified until now, while investigations are on the run to identify their IDs.

Lately, Turkey has escalated its attacks on areas in north and northeast Syria, using artillery and drones following Tehran Summit, in which Turkey failed to obtain a green light by Iran and Russia to invade the region.

On July 28, the SDF Commander in Chief Mazloum Abdi said that Turkish drone attacks have increased in northeast Syria, aiming at destabilizing security.

Drones’ attacks have increased and started to target northeast Syria’s community and its institutions working on the region’s stability, Abdi added.
