ISIS claims attacking SDF in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Wednesday an attack on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
ISIS-run Amaq News Agency, published a statement saying, the organization’s militants targeted two SDF fighters on the main road of the town of Sabha, 30 km east of Deir ez-Zor, with machineguns.
The militants managed to kill the two fighters and seized their weapons, Amaq added.
Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.
The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
Since Saturday, ISIS has claimed eight operations against the SDF in their areas of presence, four of which was in Deir ez-Zor.
