Council affiliated with Turkish-backed SNA seizes lands in Syria’s north

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, Military Council of Tel Rifaat, which has been recently established at behest of Turkish forces, seized lands belonging to residents in the town of Kaljibrin, affiliated to the city of Azaz, north of Aleppo.

A special source told North Press that the council seized several lands within the town on the pretext that their owners joined Syrian government forces.

The Council’s leaders sent cars and armed members affiliated with it, along with trucks carrying small cement blocks, to mark those lands with special signs for the council.

The Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) established the council in June to control the area in the event that it is controlled by the SNA, following the expected Turkish military operation, according to a source close to the SNA.

In 2018, the Turkish forces established a base on an area of 35 acres of agricultural land in Kaljibrin, north of Aleppo, according to the source.

The town of Tel Rifaat, 35 km north of Aleppo city, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300.000 of the original inhabitants.

There are 3.692 displaced families that include 14.783 people from Afrin and 35 displaced families from Idlib live in Tel Rifaat, according to statistics carried out by Autonomous Administration of Afrin, which is currently operating in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
