Turkey shells villages in Syria’s Hasakah for 4th time in 1 day
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish forces and its affiliated Syrian opposition forces shelled, for the fourth time on Saturday, villages located in the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town in north of Hasakah Governorate in northeastern Syria.
A source in the Tel Tamr Military Council told North Press that Turkish artillery has been targeting villages in Tel Tamr since the early hours of Saturday’s morning.
The source said, Turkish artillery shelled the villages of “Umm al-Keif, Dardara, Qubur al-Gharajna, al-Aboush and al-Sheikh Ali,” in the countryside of the town, with dozens of artillery shells, which resulted in material damage to the residents’ properties.
This comes hours after the first targeting today of the villages of Dardara and Umm al-Keif, which left the Tel Tamer power substation out of service for the 27th time since the beginning of 2022.
Less than an hour later, a source in the Tel Tamr Military Council said that Turkish artillery targeted the village of Dardara, north of Tel Tamr, with dozens of artillery shells. There was no report regarding the size of the damage.
In addition, on Saturday’s morning Turkish artillery targeted the village of Hasajek in the northern countryside of Aleppo, damaging dozens of olive trees, according to what an eyewitness told North Press.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. On June 1, Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.
The Turkish escalation followed Tehran Summit in which, according to analysts, Turkey failed to obtain a green light from Iran and Russia to launch its long-aimed military operation.
