Government forces, opposition factions clash in Syria’s Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The eastern countryside of Aleppo witnessed, on Saturday, heavy clashes between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA).

A military source told North Press that during the ongoing clashes, the government forces targeted, with expanding bullets, the southern neighborhood of the town of Tadef, southeast of the city of al-Bab, east of Aleppo.

Large explosions were heard in conjunction with the ongoing clashes as a result of targeting the houses with expanding bullets by the government forces, the source added.

Meanwhile, the SNA factions targeted, with heavy machineguns, the military posts of the government forces in north of the town.

Amid heavy clashes between both sides, more than seven soldiers of the government forces were killed and wounded. The SNA factions were also able to, according to the same source.

The contact lines between the government forces and the SNA factions within the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria are witnessing an escalation and mutual shelling.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
