Syrians must reject Turkish operation on Syria’s north – Raqqa’s residents

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – People of the city of Raqqa, north Syria, said on Wednesday that rejecting Turkish military operation against north Syria is a “must” placed on shoulders of Syrians of all communities.

Turkey repeats its threats to invade new Syrian lands, amid its attempts to persuade international actors to agree to its military operation.

Fatima al-Ali, resident of Raqqa, said that Raqqa’s people reject the Turkish threats to begin a military action in Syria, which threatens Syrians’ safety and security throughout Syrian lands.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.

On July 1, Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.

“The time has come to clear these lands from the terrorist organizations,” Erdogan threatened during Tehran Summit on July 19.

The Tehran’s trilateral summit brought president of Iran Turkey and Russia together and the Syrian issue topped its agenda in addition to other issue of concern for the countries.

The Turkish military intervention in Syria brought nothing but devastation and destruction to the Syrians, and caused the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people from their areas to other areas, according to al-Ali.

“Erdogan has offered northing to them [residents of the areas occupied by Turkey]. He took their lands and displace them,” she said.

She highlighted the importance of deterring Turkey from its military action, which it intends to implement, through the continuous statements made by Turkish officials.

Nahid Sha’ban, resident of Raqqa, said that residents of Raqqa agree that any Turkish military intervention in the Syrian territories is absolutely rejected.

“There is no place for the Turkish occupation in Syria,” she told North Press.

Residents in the city see that Turkish operations in Syria have caused many humanitarian crises, and only innocent civilians in the Turkish-occupied areas paid the price.

Because Turkish plans more dangerous, Syrians should unite at this time against Turkish interference, even if they disagree on other matters, according to them.

They see that Turkish Government through its tools and active forces tries to expand its areas of control at the expense of the Syrian blood.

“All Syrian people reject the Turkish bombardment,” Youssef al-Kassem, Raqqa citizen, said.

All Syrians reject aggressive behavior that Turkey follows in Syrian occupied areas to occupy more lands, according to al-Kassem.
