Aleppo, Syria (North Press) – Turkish-backed Sultan Suleiman Shah, also known as al-Amshat, and Hamza Division split, on Tuesday evening, from Hayat Thaeroon for Liberation that includes several factions in Aleppo northern and eastern countryside.
This split comes after several armed opposition factions joined in large formations, following statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.
An exclusive source told North Press that Sultan Suleiman Shah Faction led by Muhammad al-Jassem, also known as Abu Amsha, and Hamza Division led by Abo Bakr, announced their split from Hayat Thaeroon for Liberation.
Abu Amsha is the most prominent leader of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA); his faction controls the entire Sheikh al-Hadid district, northwest of Afrin region, northern Syria, and has committed broad-scale violations in the region.
Hayat Thaeroon for Liberation flags were lowered from Hamza Division and the al-Amshat faction camps in the areas in north and east of Aleppo.
Thaeroon was formed in October 2021, after the integration of Faylaq al-Sham, Sultan Murad, al-Muntaser Billah, Thuwar al-Sham factions, in addition to Liwa al-Shamal, Nineth Squad and Liwa 112.
