Unknown aircrafts hit Iranian-backed militias in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday at dawn, unidentified aircraft targeted headquarters and weapon’s warehouses belonging to Iranian-backed militias in the eastern desert of Deir ez-Zor along the border strip with Iraq with several airstrikes.
A military source of the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds in the town of Abu Kamal on the Syrian-Iraqi border said, “Unidentified aircrafts targeted two headquarters of Liwa al-Quds in the desert of Abu Kamal with 13 airstrikes.”
“As a result, two individuals were killed, and massive material losses were reported,” the military source added.
The same aircrafts targeted a weapon warehouse, belonging to The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a headquarters of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization on the Syrian-Iraqi border with three airstrikes, causing massive material losses, according to the source.
The source, who preferred to be unnamed for security reasons, told North Press that the Iranian-backed militias evacuated their headquarters and transferred weapons and warehouses to Iraq.
Additionally, the unidentified aircrafts shelled vehicles loaded with weapons and ammunition as well as a warehouse in the Iraqi border town of al-Qa’im with eight airstrikes, destroying them all completely.
Also, the aircrafts hit headquarters of the 1st regiment affiliated to Anbar’s Hashd near Husaybah, an Iraqi city along the border with Syria.
The Iranian-backed militias and the Syrian government forces have been running vast swaths of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor and Syria’s Badia since the expulsion of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in 2017.
On May 7, unknown warplane targeted a military three military posts of the Iranian-backed militias and the National Defense Forces (NDF) in Deir ez-Zor which resulted in the killing and injury of dozens.
