Turkish artillery targets Aleppo countryside with 28 shells in 24 hours
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Tuesday the villages of Samouqa and Shahba Dam in the northern countryside of Aleppo, north of Syria.
The Turkish forces shelled the aforementioned village and the dam from a military base in the town of Marea with three artillery shells,” a military source told North Press.
In less than 24 hours, the Turkish forces and their affiliated opposition SNA factions shelled the villages of the northern countryside of Aleppo with more than 28 artillery shells, according to the source.
On July 1, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.
“I always say that we can start [the incursion] at any moment at night. We should not worry and rush, especially since we are working in the area,” Erdogan told reporters after returning from the NATO summit in Madrid
On Monday, the Turkish artillery targeted the villages of Zaranit, Burj al-Qas, Mayassa, Tatmrash, Shawargha, Halsa and Tel Shaer with about 25 shells, the source added.
As the above mentioned villages are on contact lines, North Press could not get accurate information about the damage caused by the shelling.
Since two weeks ago, Turkey has been escalating shelling the villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
