IED claims lives of three Iranian-backed militants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three militants of Iranian-backed militias were killed on Thursday night and four others were wounded in an IED explosion east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

Three members of the Iranian-backed Liwa Zainebiyoun were killed and four others were wounded in an IED explosion, which was planted on the entrance to the village of Taybah east of al-Mayadin, that targeted their car, a military source of the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds in al-Mayadin said.

The source, who preferred to be unnamed for security reasons, told North Press that the car was picking the militants, who were in a mission to deliver food to posts of Liwa Zainebiyoun.

The Iranian-backed militias along with the Syrian government forces run vast swaths of the Syrian Desert as well as the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, where the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) conducted many attacks.

On May 21, a militant of the Iranian-backed the Afghan Liwa Fatemiyoun was killed in an IED explosion that targeted his motorcycle in Sokariyah neighborhood west of Abu Kamal on Syrian-Iraqi border.
