Aggression, occupation describe Turkish presence in Syria – Syrian FM
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Mekdad said on Monday that Turkish presence in Syria’s north is an aggression and occupation, seeking the formation of tense hotbeds in the region.
Mekdad, in a political presentation to the people’s Assembly, said, “Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates continues to bring up the issue of the Turkish aggression and occupation in different international diplomatic forums.”
The State-run News agency SANA cited Mekdad as saying, “Aggression and occupation are the only legal real descriptions of the Turkish illegal presence on Syrian soil.”
“Destruction the Turkish regime is practicing on Syrian lands is an act of aggression that seeks to create persistent tense hotbeds inside Syria to continue supporting, arming and operating terrorist organizations in favor of prevarication and opportunism policies adopted by Erdogan’s regime, posing a notable threat to both regional and international peace and stability.”
“Any measures or acts the Turkish regime has practiced or is practicing on Syrian lands are but illegal and null acts that mount to war crimes and crimes against humanity,” he added.
He further explained that Turkey’s acts are based on “aggression, occupation, ethnic and social cleansing, moving and displacing residents from their houses and original areas in order to seize their properties, houses and lands, and threatening their life and future.”
Mekdad also warned against legal consequences of funding projects and programs the Turkish occupation implements on the occupied Syrian parts, claiming to address humanitarian condition of the Syrian refugees and secure their return to areas from which the original inhabitants fled and were displaced in order to seize their properties.
