HTS shells Syrian Government forces in Hama – Russian Reconciliation Center
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, The Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, affiliated with the Russian Defense Ministry, announced that four Syrian soldiers were killed and two others were wounded in shelling by militants of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) in Hama Governorate.
The deputy head of the Russian Reconciliation Center Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev said, “The terrorists targeted the government forces via a tank in Hama, killing four soldiers and wounding two others. “
“Nineteen cases of shelling by the armed attackers were recorded in the de-escalation zone in Idlib,” Zhuravlev added.
On June 12, the reconciliation center announced that “due to the worsening situation in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria, Syrian government forces are organizing themselves.”
This followed a previous announcement about increasing activities of the Syrian opposition factions and intensive clashes between the militants in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.
On May 30, the center announced that it had recorded five cases of shelling by militants of HTS in the de-escalation zone, northwest Syria.
