IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian refugee was stabbed to death on Monday night by Turkish citizens in the city of Istanbul.
Exclusive sources told North Press that the 24-year-old Syrian refugee Sultan Jebnah was killed at the hands of Turkish young men in Taksim neighborhood in Istanbul while trying to break up a fight between them in front of his barbershop.
The Syrian refugee, who hails from Homs Governorate, got married two months ago, according to the sources.
Official Turkish statistics indicate that Turkey houses about 4.5 million Syrian refugees, while unofficial ones indicate that the number is about five million.
On June 4, the 21-year-old Sharif Khaled al-Ahmad, who hailed from the city of Idlib, succumbed to his injuries after being stabbed by Turkish individuals in Istanbul.
Human rights sources confirmed at the time that the motives behind the murder were “purely racist.”
On May 10, the Syrian refugee Samer Massas, from Aleppo, was killed by Turks in Hatay province, south Turkey, on racial grounds.
Recently, sectarian campaigns against Syrians in Turkey have increased after a crime committed by a Syrian refugee when he killed a Turkish young man in Tin Dag area in the capital Ankara in August.
