Turkey resumes shelling Syria’s Manbij countryside
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces bombed on Monday evening the village of al-Hoshariya in the northeastern countryside of Manbij, north of Aleppo, with mortar shells, after about 24 hours of cautious calm.
The Turkish forces bombed the village of al-Hoshariya, with mortar shells, a source in the Manbij Military Council told North Press.
The source, however, did not mention the number of shells and the size of the damage caused by the bombing.
On June 1, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed his threats of launching a military operation on northern Syria, and specified his targets in the two Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat, which include many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Using mortars and artillery, Turkish forces shelled on Saturday a telecommunications tower in the village of Helwanji in north of Manbij, a city in northern Syria.
The SDF liberated Manbij from ISIS rule in 2016, and the city is now under the control of the SDF-aligned Manbij Military Council. Remarkably, the MMC.
Turkey and its affiliated SNA factions have recently intensified bombing the contact lines in the northeastern and northwestern lines of countryside of Manbij.
