Russia, Turkey conduct joint patrol east of Syria’s Kobani
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian Military Police (MP) and Turkish forces conducted a joint patrol in the eastern countryside of the city of Kobani, north Syria.
This is the 101st joint patrol between the two forces in the region since the signing of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement in 2019.
In October 2019, following its military operation “Peace Spring” in which it occupied the two cities of Tel Abyad in north of Raqqa and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in north of Hasakah, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.
The ceasefire agreements stipulating halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 30 kilometers in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting joint patrol with Russia in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.
The patrol, which consisted of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles accompanied by two Russian helicopters, set off from the village of Gharib, 15 kilometers east of Kobani.
The patrol passed by the villages of Karbanaf, Kosk, Alishar, Jom Ali, Kortek, Kobk, Satan, Tiri, Tel Hajib, Qabajeq Saghir, Telk, Kharabisan Foqani, Jishan, Boztepe and Qaramogh.
The patrol returned to the set off point in the village of Gharib.
The Turkish military vehicles returned to Turkey through the gate near Gharib village, while the Russian military vehicles returned to their position near the town of Sirrin, south of Kobani.
On May 30, Russian and Turkish forces conducted the 100th joint patrol in the western countryside of Kobani.
