45 Turkish shells hit Syria’s Manbij over two days
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Manbij Military Council revealed in a statistic the number of Turkish shells that hit villages in the northern and northwestern countryside of Manbij, northern Syria, over the past two days.
The Manbij Military Council, which is affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on its official website, the initial toll of shells fired by the Turkish forces on Manbij countryside in the past two days amounted to 45 mortars and artillery shells.
Turkish forces targeted the villages of Awn al-Dadat and al-Mehsinli in north of Manbij with shells and mortars, and the village of Arab Hassan was targeted with a Turkish drone.
Almost on a daily basis, the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions (also known as the Syrian National Army, SNA) target the northern and the northwestern countryside of Manbij with different types of weapons.
The Turkish bombing spreads panic and fear among the residents of these villages, according to the council.
Turkish forces bombed on Wednesday the villages of Awn al-Dadat and al-Mehsinli in north of Manbij with heavy weapons.
On May 30, Manbij Military Council said that the number of shells that fell over three days was 41, fired from the Turkish bases in the villages of (al-Tokhar, al-Hoshariya, al-Yashli and Sheikh al-Nasser).
On Thursday morning, the Media Center of the Manbij Military Council said it thwarted an infiltration attempt by Turkish-backed SNA factions in al-Mehsinli. As a result, two opposition members were killed.
The council mourned one of its fighters who lost his life during confronting the infiltration attempt.
The city of Manbij and its countryside were liberated from ISIS in 2016 by the SDF with support of the US-led Global Coalition.
