Turkish offensive has reached dangerous levels – SDF

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) –  Media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Wednesday that the attacks of the Turkish forces and their affiliated opposition factions (SNA) reached dangerous levels.

Since this morning, more than 30 villages and dozens of residential areas in northern Syria have been bombarded with rockets and artillery shells by Turkish forces and the SNA.

On May 23, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey is preparing for a new military operation in northern Syria to establish a 30-km deep safe zone along its southern border.

“The Turkish shelling led to the injury of two civilians and great damage to large areas of agricultural crops and civilians’ homes,” the center said in a statement.

Villages in the eastern countryside of Kobani and the western countryside of Tel Abyad, the center of Ain Issa town and its surroundings in the northern countryside of Raqqa were all bombed.

The shelling also struck villages in the countryside of Tel Rifaat north of Aleppo, Manbij countryside in western Aleppo, and villages in the northern and northwestern countryside of Hasakah.

“The intensity of the Turkish bombing and targeting of the residential areas aims to intimidate and displace the population, in light of the silence of the international community,” according to the SDF media center.

“The international community’s silence and condoning these attacks negatively reflect on maintaining security and stability in the region and efforts to combat terrorism,” the center said.
