One member of pro-Iranian militias killed, three wounded in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen killed on Wednesday a member of the pro-Iranian militias and wounded three others in an attack with machine guns on al-Kharata oil field, west of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
Unidentified gunmen tried to infiltrate the Kharata oil field and clashed with the members of the pro-Iranian Baqir Brigade, a military source in the government forces said.
The gunmen fled towards the desert after carrying out the attack, causing fires and material damage in the oil field.
Iranian-backed militias and the Syrian government forces have been running vast swaths in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor since expelling ISIS in 2017.
On Monday, two members of the government forces were killed and another was wounded in an armed attack on their post in the town of al-Bukamal on the outskirts of the Syrian-Iraqi border.
