DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A landmine of remnants of war detonated on Sunday in the countryside of Daraa governorate in southern Syria, and seriously injured three children.
Three siblings, Abdullah, Fajr and Abdurrahman Ali al-Dagher, from the city of Inkhil in the northern countryside of Daraa, were injured during the explosion of a landmine, a relative of the children told North Press.
The injured brothers were transferred to a hospital in the city of Sanamayn for treatment, where it was reported that one of the children is in the intensive care unit, while his two brothers left the hospital two hours after receiving the treatment, according to the children’s relative.
Since 2018, landmines have caused the killing of dozens of Daraa residents, most of them children.
Syrian government forces refuse to send demining teams to clear the area from the mines they once planted, according to the residents.
On May 8, two children died in a landmine explosion left by the government forces in the northern countryside of the governorate.
