Syrian families fled Turkey-held areas to SDF areas-SDF

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Tuesday that Syrian families fled the Turkish forces-held areas in the northern countryside of Raqqa to the areas of the Autonomous Administration in northeast Syria.

“Syrian families fled the areas controlled by Turkey in the countryside of Tel Abyad and the vicinity of the town of Ain Issa to the areas of the Autonomous Administration,” the SDF published on its official website.

The SDF members secured the fled families’ access to the areas of the Autonomous Administration and provided them with relief aid, without revealing their numbers, it added.

The SDF cited the new arrivals as saying that  “that Turkey prevented residents of villages in the areas under its control from leaving their villages. The villagers were allowed to leave the villages only once every four months.

Residents of villages held by Turkey experience very difficult living conditions, in light of the siege imposed on them by the Turkish forces, according to residents.

The website reported displaced people as saying that they “had to grind barley instead of wheat to use it for bread because the Turkish forces prevented the entry of foodstuffs to their villages and prevented them from leaving as well.”
