Syria’s Manbij countryside hit with Turkish drones, shells

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions targeted several villages in the countryside of Manbij with 38 mortars and two drones attacks during one week.

“The Turkish forces have escalated the attacks on villages nearby the frontline between Manbij Military Council (MMC) and the Syrian opposition factions since early this week,” a source from the MMC told North Press.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Turkish forces hit the villages of Aoun al-Dadat and al-Mehsennly in northern Manbij with about over 31 mortar shells.

The Turkish forces targeted the village of Aoun al-Dadat from the their base in the village of al-Tokhar al-Kabir and they targeted al-Mehsennly from their base in the village of al-Yashli, according to the source.

On Monday, the Turkish forces stationed at the military base near Aoun al-Dadat targeted the village of Arab Hassan in northern Manbij with seven mortars.

Two Turkish drones hit on Sunday and Monday the vicinity of al-Mehsennly, the Source added.

However, no casualties were recorded during the last military operations.

The media center of the MMC said on Wednesday that it shot down a Turkish drone prepared to target the Manbij Military Council’s posts near the western frontline of the city of Manbij.

It should be mentioned that most areas of northeast Syria have witnessed, for two weeks, the Turkish escalation of military operations, the latest of which was the bombing of the city of Kobani on Friday with artillery shells, which resulted in the injury of two civilians and the destruction of private property.
