Washington expresses worries over Turkish shelling on Kobani
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The US expressed its worries on Monday regarding the Turkish attacks that target civilians in Kobani, north Syria, and also urged de-escalation.
On April 22, the Turkish shelling targeted the center of Kobani, injuring two civilians and causing damage to some houses and stores.
“We are deeply concerned by reports of shelling on Kobani and deplore any loss of civilian life,” the US embassy in Syria said in a statement posted to Twitter.
“The United States calls on all parties to deescalate,” the Embassy added.
For its part, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), called the US and Russia on Friday to reach understandings with Ankara that would prevent it from intervening escalating in Syria.
Turkey’s persistence of those attacks paves the way for the return of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), as well as deepens “the role of mercenaries supported by Turkey” to implement the policies of occupation and territorial division in Syria.
