Turkish backed factions arrest citizens in Syria’s Afrin   

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions arrested 13 Kurdish  people in different parts of Afrin area in northern Syria during the last few days, Violation Documentation Center in Northern Syria (VDC-NSY) said yesterday.    

The arrests are frequently carried out in the houses the factions’ members stormed, searched, looted, and sabotaged the contents. 

The total toll of the arrested people in Afrin area since the beginning of 2022 has reached 221 persons, including nine children and 24 women, according to official statistics.

Since the Turkish invasion, 8,605 casualties have been documented, including 2,596 deaths. 8,283 persons have been arrested, out of which 5,630 individuals have released while the rest are still unaccounted for.

175 were killed under torture in detention centers run by the opposition factions.
