IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A soldier of the Syrian government forces was killed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham/HTS (formerly al-Nusra Front) in Syria’s coastal city of Latakia, Russian Defense Ministry’s Reconciliation Center for Syria (Khmeimim) announced late on Saturday.
“The terrorist group al-Nusra Front fired bullets from the de-escalation zone in Idlib, killing a soldier of the Syrian government forces in Lattakia governorate,” Said Oleg Zhuravlev, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation.
“Five missiles were reported launched from Idlib by the terrorist al-Nusra Front during the last 24 hours. Two missiles were against Aleppo and three against Latakia,” Zhuravlev added.
The deputy chief noted that a Syrian government soldier was killed in an attack with mortar shells launched by terrorists from Barzah Tahtani against government forces positions stationed in Jubb ez-Zaarour area.
On April 17, Khmeimim said HTS had carried out 11 attacks in Idlib in one single day.
On April 11, Hmeimim announced the death of two Syrian soldiers in a shelling carried out by HTS in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.
