ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – Amid a state of insecurity in the regions held by them, two members of two Turkish-backed armed opposition factions were killed yesterday after exchanging fire in Jarablus, a city east of Aleppo, north Syria.
A fight broke out between the factions of Sultan Suleiman Shah, locally known as al-Amshat Division, and Ahrar al-Sham al-Islamiyya, leading to the death of one member for each faction, a source told North Press.
The source added that the dead member of al-Amshat was Yasser Qejjeh, while the name of the Ahrar al-Sham member was yet to be known.
The reason behind the fighting is still unknown, amid a state of fear among the opposition-held areas’ residents due to the continuous infighting between the factions, the source noted.
Jarablus has been under the control of the Turkish-backed factions since 2016.
The opposition factions-held areas witness a state of tension and almost daily infighting, amid regular killings and arrests, in light of the factions’ inability to hold it under control.
