Asayish arrest person dealing in counterfeit currency in Syria Raqqa
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) arrested a person on charges of dealing in counterfeit US dollars in a town in the countryside of Raqqa, north Syria.
Following collecting evidence, the person was arrested by the Asayish, the official website of the Asayish said.
“The suspect was dealing in forged currency in the money change market in the town of al-Hos in the countryside of Raqqa,” the official website added.
The suspect was arrested in a tight ambush with 6000 counterfeit US dollars he had.
The accused admitted during the investigations that he had dealt with counterfeit currency with the intent of defrauding. He consequently was referred with the amount of money to the Public Prosecution.
On April 8, the Asayish arrested four dealers of counterfeit currency in Manbij.
It should be known that the Asayish recorded 203 cases of currency counterfeiting in all regions of northeast Syria during 2021, with a value of more than half a million US dollars.
