DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the security forces of the Syrian government opened a center in Syria’s southern city of Daraa to settle status of the wanted people and those who evaded the mandatory conscription.
Local sources told North Press that the new center in al-Horiyat palace in al-Kashef neighborhood, Daraa al-Mahata, was opened with the attendance of officers of the Russian Military Police (MP).
The center started to settle status of the defectors and evaders of the compulsory military service and the those wanted by government security branches, the sources said.
The new settlement process is the fourth one to be conducted in Daraa.
Muhammed Salim, a pseudonym for a young man who evade the compulsory military service, said he “won’t join the government forces.”
“Immigration is much better than living in a constant fear of being arrested following the settlement process,” he said.
In another context, Syrian government forces handed over on Tuesday the body of the 34-year-old young man Yasin Ghazi Abu Rukba to his relatives in Nawa city, Daraa eastern countryside.
Abu Rukba was arrested four years ago and died under torture in Saydnaya military prison.
In 2018, Abu Rukba, who had defected the mandatory conscription, joined the settlement process, but later he was arrested and sent to prison.
