Social Justice Council in Syria’s Raqqa discuss social contract draft

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the mini-committee for drafting the social contract for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) submitted the draft contract to the Social Justice Council in the city of Raqqa, north Syria.
The meeting of the mini-committee for the drafting of the social contract was held in the meeting room of the Legislative Council in the city of Raqqa, and was attended by jurists and members of the Social Justice Council.
The purpose of the meetings held by the committee is to obtain proposals and opinions regarding the terms of the draft contract, Imad al-Karraf, a judge and member of the mini-committee for drafting the social contract, told North Press.
The proposals and opinions submitted to the expanded committee for drafting the social contract will be conveyed for discussion at the end of the meetings, which will have most of the workers and officials in the institutions of the Autonomous Administration and the social segments, according to al-Karraf.

“The extended committee then will take into account the proposals submitted during the meetings, and some provisions of the social contract may be modified in accordance with these proposals,” he added.
Al-Karraf pointed out that the mini-committee for drafting the social contract continues to hold its meetings with the social segments in order to reach the mass meetings to give everyone the opportunity to be informed about the draft contract before ratifying it.
On February 12, the Social Contract Drafting Committee in the Autonomous Administration completed its work on discussing the Articles of the social contract at the city of in Hasakah, northeast Syria.
The draft of the social contract consists of a preamble and 99 articles that begin with four main chapters: basic principles, rights and freedoms, community order, and general provisions.

The draft social contract defines the system and form of governance in the Autonomous Administration and the basic points and principles plus legal provisions through which the regions of northeast Syria will be run.
