HTS conducts 11 attacks in Syria’s Idlib, Khmeimim

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Russian Defense Ministry’s Reconciliation Center for Syria announced yesterday that, in just one day, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), had carried out 11 attacks in Idlib, northwest Syria.

Oleg Zhuravlev, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation, said “during the past day (Friday), 11 attacks were recorded in the de-escalation zone in Idlib, all of which came from positions held by the terrorist group, al-Nusra Front.”

Zhuravlev also added that a Syrian soldier was wounded due to a shooting in Aleppo.

On April 11, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the death of two Syrian soldiers in a shelling carried out by HTS in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.

In early March, the Russian Center for Reconciliation announced that 12 Syrian soldiers were wounded as a result of shelling and sniping operations conducted by the armed opposition factions in the de-escalation zones.

The Syrian government forces and opposition factions exchange bombardments within the de-escalation zone, despite the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement signed between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in March 2021.
