Government forces prevent medicines from entering two neighborhoods in Aleppo
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The 4th Division of the government forces keeps besieging the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, northern Aleppo, and preventing the entry of medications into them.
Both Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, northern Aleppo, are semi-autonomous and run by a civil administration.
For eight days, the Fourth Division has prevented the sales representatives of pharmaceutical companies from entering the two neighborhoods. It has also banned the entry of diesel and flour, according to informed sources.
On Tuesday, the Fourth Division received orders from the government authorities in Damascus to ease the siege on the two neighborhoods, which led to the entry of vegetables and small amounts of diesel fuel, for residents not for the bakeries.
It should be known that more than 200,000 residents of the two neighborhoods have run out of medicine and bread due to the ongoing siege by the government forces since last March 13.
In response to the siege of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods by the government forces, the Asayish have prevented the entry of flour and diesel into the Baath bakery run by government forces in Qamishli, and some bakeries in Hasakah.
The neighborhoods are separated from the other neighborhoods in Aleppo by three government security checkpoints; Ashrafiyeh, Awared, and Maghsalat al-Jazira.
On Tuesday, delegation of the Autonomous Administration met with the government delegation in the city of Qamishli, and as a result, it was allowed for some foodstuffs to enter the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.
