Explosions heard near Global Coalition base in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, five explosions were heard near the base of the Global Coalition in al-Omar oil field, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

“The sounds of the explosions were strong,” North Press reported an eyewitness who was near al-Omar oil field.

The source suggested that the sounds were the result of military exercises, which  periodically take place there.

No comments were released by either the Global Coalition or the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the incident.

Similarly, two large explosions were heard near the base of the Global Coalition in al-Omar oil field on Wednesday.

The coalition base is occasionally attacked by pro-Iranian militias present on the West Bank of the Euphrates River, east of Deir ez-Zor.

In early January, the base was hit with eight missiles, coming from locations west of the city of al-Mayadin, according to what a source in the Global Coalition forces said.
