IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian warplanes bombed military sites and fortifications of the opposition factions, south of Idlib, northwest Syria.
A Russian warplane carried out three air raids on the opposition factions’ sites between the towns of Sfuhen and Fleifel, in al-Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, a military source in the National Front For Liberation told North Press.
The Russian warplanes targeted bushes and agricultural lands, where no casualties were reported, and coincided with intensive flight of Russian drones over the areas, the source added.
The Russian airstrikes coincided with artillery shelling by the Syrian government forces on the factions’ sites in the towns and villages of Ma’arat al-Naasan north of Idlib, and al-Bara and Kansafra south of Idlib.
Four children were killed in the government shelling of the town of Ma’arat al-Naasan, according to the same source.
Besides, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room announced targeting the government forces’ locations in the regiment 46, Mizanaz, Kafr Halab west of Aleppo, the source added.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
