Daraa witnessed highest death toll in March since 2018

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Martyrs Documentation Office in Daraa issued its monthly report, in which it indicated that March was the deadliest month since the 2018 settlement agreement in Daraa governorate, south of Syria.

It stressed the continuation of violations against the residents of Daraa by the security branches of the Syrian government forces. The report also pointed out the significant increase in killings.

The Martyr Documentation Office is an independent rights association documenting the number of the martyrs and the massacres committed against the people of Daraa inside the city or outside it.

 “At least 15 individuals were documented kidnapped or detained. Only nine of them were released in the same month,” the report said.

The statement noted that the aforementioned figure does not include those arrested to serve the mandatory military service or the reserve one.

The Martyrs Documentation Office in Daraa said that last March witnessed the continuation of the escalating pace of killing attempts in the governorate, despite the passage of two months since the second settlement agreement started, and since the government forces took control of Daraa in August 2018 after the settlement agreement First.

The office recorded 57 killing operations during the month of March. 44 people were killed and 12 were injured, while one person survived a killing attempt.

46 killing operations were recorded in the western countryside of Daraa, while 7  operations were recorded in the eastern countryside of Daraa, and four operations in the city of Daraa, the report said.

Ten former opposition members, including two who had joined the government forces, were killed, according to the report.
