Government, opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the de-escalation zones in northwestern Syria witnessed the continuation of mutual shelling between Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces.
“The opposition factions’ sites in the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Aweid, Sufuhn, Kansafra, Benin and al-Ruwaiha in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, were hit with heavy artillery and missiles by the government forces,” military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press.
“The opposition’s sites in the villages and towns of Kafr Noran, Kafr Amma, Taqad and Kafr Ta’al, were also bombed by the government forces stationed in the 46th Regiment in the western countryside of Aleppo, without reports of casualties,” the sources added.
Meanwhile, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room bombed the positions of the government forces in the town of Kafruma, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and missiles,” military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press.
Despite being included in the de-escalation agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in 2020, the areas of northwest Syria witness daily exchange of shelling between the government forces and Turkish-backed opposition factions.
