Child wounded by government forces’ member in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A child was shot on Tuesday evening, by a member of the government forces in the northern countryside of Daraa.
“The child, Yamen Hussam Qanbus, was shot in the chest by a member of the State Security detachment of the government forces, in the city of al-Hara in the northern countryside of Daraa. He was subsequently transported to Damascus hospitals,” a local source told North Press.
“The officers of the government forces present in the detachment justified the shooting, saying that the child was injured by a gunshot wound by mistake,” the source added.
“The residents of the city doubted the officers’ account, considering that the child was deliberately shot. The officers’ justification, however, was to calm down the residents,” the source said.
It is noteworthy that the government forces deployed dozens of military points in Daraa governorate after they entered the governorate through the settlement agreement in 2018.
