Israeli airstrikes target vicinity of Syria’s Damascus

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Israel targeted military sites in the vicinity of Damascus, Syria’s capital, killing two people.  

“At about 05:00 a.m. on Monday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial act of aggression from the direction of southern Beirut, targeting with missiles some sites in Damascus vicinity,” the Syrian Ministry of Defense said on its official Facebook account. 

“Our air defense intercepted the missiles and downed most of them,” the Ministry added. 

The airstrike led to the killing of two persons, according to the ministry.

On February 24, three soldiers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on military posts in the vicinity of Damascus, south Syria.

Israel periodically targets Iranian-backed military militias in Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights during 2021, counted 39 Israeli airstrikes targeted Iranian-backed militias in Syria.
