DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, two people were arrested on the way to a settlement center of the government forces in the city of al-Mayadin, Deir ez-Zor governorate, east Syria.
The two young men, from al-Boleel town, were arrested by the Syrian government’s Military Police in the settlement process center and then transported to an unknown place, a local source told North Press.
The two men had defected from the Syrian army and lived in al-Sabha village in the east countryside of al-Busayrah, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Military Police told the two young men’s families, that they had joined the compulsory military service, but disclosed no more details.
This is not the first case where young men are arrested while heading to the settlement process centers announced by the Syrian government, the source said.
The first settlement process started in Deir ez-Zor city in mid-November 2021.
